Seeing younger pre-grandparent photos of grandparents helped me to stop and think of them as contemporaries and with compassion! Enjoying this!

If ever I were to run a nursing home, I would hang an 8x10 photo of the patient in their confident 20's on the outside of their room to remind the staff that these are people who were once young like them.

Also, I was so struck by Mother Alden’s sharing how God helped her to care for her early senile husband who died later. Explaining to the non-believing Clara what the Lord said, the older woman set her cup back on its saucer and said “He said if I couldn't love Jim for Jim's sake, perhaps I could love Jim for His.” 🥰Mother Alden took another sip. “Whether Jim remembered me or not, he still mattered to me more than to anyone else. Forgetfulness does not excuse unfaithfulness.”

Crucial life lesson throughout the universe!

This was the lesson that got me through newborn night feedings. Not a lot of warm affection at 3:30 am, but to the extent we do to even the least of these, we do to Christ. That helped me get out of bed.

Me, too. And with others in the family especially where are just feelings or shame or not enough to motivate me to real love as Christ loves me. “...as unto the Lord” is a strong banner for me. Wonderful to hear you incorporate it in your story!
